Bonjour from the south of France!
Spring has sprung and the fields and forest of the Château are filled with flowers…
This season at the Château we have been slowly and lovingly tending to the garden in preparation for a full display of florals and colour in the summertime. Tulips and crocus, daffodils and snowdrops, lily of the valley and flowering quince make the garden a canvas of colour. As if the Château has become one of Monet’s beautiful paintings…
Early in May we were very excited to after two years finally welcome life back to the Château as students from Gateway Technical College in the US joined us as part of a French cultural immersion program. A mix of students from different disciplines joined us to learn about and assist with the restoration. This year we had business and graphic design students assist inside with the restoration of 18th Century frescoes and beams in the Château’s original dining room and with wallpapering the Château’s dedicated floristry room. Meanwhile, horticultural students toiled away in the gardens and also began creating a chicken coop using only reclaimed materials we had onsite…
Following Gateway’s visit and finishing the last few touches in the garden, we have returned our attention inside to begin dressing the Château in preparation for our summer stays…
As part of this, we are very excited to announce that the wallpapering in the Chambre de Fleurs has now been finished and the last few rooms on the ground level requiring flooring now have beautiful Versailles parquetry…
We hope that you enjoyed reading our latest post and look forward to sharing more progress of the work soon.
À bientôt,
Karina, Jasmine and all of the Château Team x
